Weekend Blessings...

         Weekend Blessings!

Saturday afternoon we went out for a walk in a nearby park and we saw three or four blue birds. They are so beautiful.  By the way some of the trees here have buds on them.

Sunday morning we attended morning services at Harmony BC, Leo met the pastor at a fellowship meeting this past week. Pastor Michael Turner allowed Leo to introduce us and 'Standing in the Gap' ministries. The folks at FBC were very gracious. As we were leaving one of the ladies handed me a gift bag full of goodies and said we give these to all our missionary wives. I was pleasantly shocked and it was a first for me.  We enjoyed the music and the preaching.

Leo had been scheduled to preach at Harvest BC for the evening service in Chattanooga but the pastor had called earlier in the week and he had resigned the church. He told us that he and his wife will continue to support us and that is a huge blessing.  The church had cancelled the evening service. Please pray for Pastor Mike Davis and the church, Harvest BC.

For the evening service we headed to Fellowship BC where Leo had attended the fellowship meeting. We arrived at 6, services began at 6:30, there was one pickup truck in the parking lot. We needed gas in the van so we took care of that and when we returned there still weren't any other cars. We had a time of prayer and when we were through the pastor and his wife were parked next to us. He explained that they had an all day service and they were not having an evening service.  He was very gracious and asked if we would return on another Sunday. Of course, by the time we left it was too late to go somewhere else.

We don't know why things like this happen but we know it is in God's plan.

Please pray for the weather on Wednesday so that our flights will be on time!

Shining the Light

Go to fullsize image

"Let your light so shine before men,
that  they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
Matthew 5:16

We were saved in December  of 1974 and like all new born babes we had so much to learn.  Matthew 5:16 was preached at our first 'Faith Promise' Mission Conference back in Vermont and faith promise giving has been part of our life ever since.
We are excited  about being 'home' for our Missions Conference next week at Bible Baptist Temple and seeing what great things God will do as we give by faith.  Our lives have changed since that first missions conference in 1981 and we are excited to see how God will use "Standing in the Gap" in years to come!

How much does a prayer weigh?

                                      Somerset by peterspencer49

How Much Does a Prayer Weigh?

There is a story of a grocery store owner who tried to weigh one. A tired-looking woman came into the store and asked for enough food to make a dinner for her children. The grocer asked her how much she could spend. The frail woman answered, "I have nothing to offer but a little prayer."
The storekeeper was not very sentimental nor religious, so he said, half-mockingly, "Write it on paper, and I'll weigh it." So she did. The grocer placed the prayer on the weight side of his old-fashioned scales. Then he began piling food on the other side; but to his amazement, the scale would not go down. He finally became flustered and gave the woman a large bag of food.
The grocer never saw the woman again, but he treasures the slip of paper upon which the woman's prayer had been written; "Please, Lord, give us this day our daily bread."

Look

The only way to look accurately at any thing is to look at it from God's viewpoint, which is only possible through the Bible!

We need to come face to face with the reality of God's superior knowledge, and the realization that no mortal can really be sure of truth and reality apart from God's revelation which is the Bible (KJV). As long as any man is true to the Bible, he can be sure he is right!

Happy Anniversary

Happy 43rd Anniversary Leo (I love you more!)...God has been so good to us and our family.  The Lord has certainly protected us many times over in many different situations. We can look back and see our children happily married, four wonderful grandchildren. God has blessed - I am excited to see what the future will bring as we serve HIM serving the missionaries through "Standing In The Gap".

Love gives it never takes! "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shalt not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 (KJV)

Take time to remember the missionaries on the foreign field - pray for them - send them a card - or email, when the LORD brings them to mind. Remember birthdays and anniversaries, show them that you care!

Telephone Visit

Leo had a great telephone visit with Jon Rettig and I had opportunity to visit with Emilie this week. The Rettigs are in the states for a short stay - they are leaving Amy at Bible College in Wisconsin.  Pray for them as they will return to Prague, Czech Republic to 'an empty nest'.
