Fellowship and Prayer

Friday nights at the Rettigs (our) apartment we meet to have fellowship, a bite to eat since some of the men come directly from work, then followed by prayer.  It is a sweet time!  The men retreat to the office and ladies meet in the living room. Since there were only two ladies present we took turns praying while the other watched the children.  It was a blessed time.

This is dedication...

On Wednesday morning one of the church ladies went to the hospital to have her second child.  Since labor would not begin on its own the doctors induced her.  Since she was going to miss Wednesday night service she wanted to hear the preaching and so they called her and put a cell phone on the pulpit. That is a love for the WORD!

Simon was born Thursday at 1:10 pm and all is well with mom and baby. He weighed 4 kilos and was 51 cm. that is 8.8 pounds and he was 20 inches long.  Hopefully we will get to see him later today. Hospital procedures are quite different in  CZ than in the US.

Good Morning

Wednesday was an eventful day...Jana came with her two little ones. We had lunch together and while the children had their nap Jana finished a sewing project and we chatted.  At 4:15 we left for town by way of the tram and of course it started to rain just as we stepped onto the tram but by the time we reached our stop the rain had let up.   Jana did a bit of shopping and then we walked by the river on our way to church. It was very pleasant.

One of the men picked up Leo at the apartment and they were at the church when we arrived. I took nursery duty and Jana agreed to come down if she heard a lot crying. It is an interesting thing to be in the nursery with children you cannot understand and they cannot understand you.  BUT children are children everywhere, they like to play!  I read a book to them and even though they could not understand they sat still and looked at the pictures. Jana never did have to come down and rescue me or the children.

One of the things that is different is that it does not get completely dark until 9:30 or later but it is light out, enough to read outside, at 4:15 to 4:30. It has thrown off our sleeping clock we go to bed later and wake up earlier.

Today is laundry day and everything has to go outdoors to dry so it is a slower process than it is at home but I really don't mind.  Lady, the dachsund, is laying at my feet waiting for us to take her out for a walk. Leo just finished mowing the grass and it smells wonderful.

The temperature is 67 degrees and a bit cloudy.

Have a wonderful day in the LORD...Proverbs 3:5-6

Sunday

Our first Sunday has come and gone!  The church has grown since we were here in 2007.  Now there are 3 children and another one on the way (today, June 22).  We saw new faces young and old, an elderly man from the neighborhood, and a young woman from Belarus who has been attending for a while. Within the last two weeks her parents and brother have moved from Belarus to Prague and they were also there.  Of course, all the faithful folk greeted us warmly and we felt right at home!

Evening service is in another city one hour away. We rode with faithful members, Pavel and Jana, and had great fellowship. Pavel preached, in Czech, and a woman got saved. It was a glorious trip home rejoicing in the Lord.

Please continue to pray for Missionaries Jon and Emilie Rettig while they are on a much needed furlough.

First Day

It is the evening of the first full day in Prague, what a blessing it has been. We had visitors this afternoon, Monika and Matous (he is 2 1/2 yrs old and a baby brother on the way at anytime), we had wonderful fellowship and at 7pm more came for prayer time.  What a blessing this day has been!

It is nearly 10 pm and we can hear fireworks in the distance! I wonder what the celebration is??

Cell phone

Our cell phone will not be working while we are in Europe.  Please contact us through email, skype, or through Bible Baptist Temple.

Leaving

We leave for the airport at 8:00 in the morning and fly out at 10:15. Their is a possibility of a transportation strike in Prague on the day of our arrival.  If that is the case we may be sent to another airport who knows where???? rather than Prague.  We have someone coming to pick us up but that would mean a longer trip for him.  We know God is in control of all events including those in the Czech Republic.  Proverbs 3:5-6
